ALUMINUM TO STEEL

With the stock aluminum rim's being all scraped, scarred and missing chunks from the last owners 4-wheeling trips I decided to go to steel rim's and get rid of yet more BLING from the Sahara...

Something that would look Willy's style without all the expense..

Searching Craigs List I found FIVE steel "wagon wheels" from a Wrangler X for $100 in great shape.. SOLD !

Some heavy scuffing with a scotch-brite pad to remove the factory shine, 80-grit sandpaper to remove brake-dust and rust from the inside. toss in a $4 spray-bomb can of Military green and you get this... a nice semi-gloss Military GREEN that gives the whole truck an entirely different look thats CHEAP...

This might look good with just some plain steel lug-nuts painted the same color... BUT

To plan is to replicate the Willy's style so best friend Hank is going to cast me some new centercaps in aluminum with the words "WILLYS EDITION" in raised lettering (polished) in the center and possibly powder-coat the surrounding area in a flat-black...

The only thing I hate about these is how the inside turns black with brake-dust and it starts to rust on ONLY the front wheels because of the rotors... But with $4 spray-bomb's to repair that.. WHO CARES !
