STEREO SYSTEM UPGRADE:

Now I didnt have much LOVE for the factory CD player... It took FOREVER for this thing to index the songs and play and it often started in the middle of a song and not at the beginning as far as power it was minimal.. So It didn't last long in my JEEP...

The new stereo came FREE from a good friends Junkyard..

Since getting my TJ I have tried many stereo's with horrible results for sound... This one however ROCKS !

If you own any Chrysler / GM Vehicle with the large din-hole then this radio comes highly sugguested by me with no doubt in my mind that you will LOVE it.. This is the type of system that maintains the almost factory look but with 5 times the power and without an external amplifier... again AMAZING !

12/13/06 SPEAKER UPGRADE:

Installed two new Poineer 5-1/4" round speakers in the overhead sound-box above the rear seats ($40)

( These were actually a perfect fit using the stock JEEP speaker grill covers )

DOOR SPEAKERS:

The doors got a little different treatment in the form of 160-WATT KENWOOD door speakers with hot-plugs (so the doors can still come off as needed) since there was plenty of room and depth for them in the lower corners I got these for $40 then started on the installation immediately...

Hole cut in panels...

Metal area trimmed out with the air-nibbler...

Speakers mounted and connected...

With the door closed they clear perfectly...

It sounds much better than the factory radio, but definately needs a subwoofer out back and a good amplifier to add some BASS...

Bear with me as I save some pennies and continue this page...

UPDATE 8-30-08

A few pennies saved and $319.00 later I have the custom formed subwoofer box that I wanted to add some BASS to the system... This thing fits perfectly and even allows you to fold the rear seat forward without pulling the box out like the old junker I had before it.. AWESOME !

OK ROB.. BUT WHATS GOING TO POWER THIS BOX ???

$269.00 later and I now have the KENWOOD KAC-9014D MONO Amplifier to push it smoothly and easily at 900RMS 1,800 watts peak...

Again that's 1,800 WATTS PEAK (at 900 it's not even warmed up yet)

and I don't do RAP music so this thing will POUND to nothing but AC/DC, Megadeth, Metallica, Ratt, Dokken, Iron Maiden, Godsmack and more..

ROCK AND ROLL like they "used to play" on MTV..

That's $588.00 total just to add some BASS not counting the door speakers...
