High Terminal Performance – Remington doesn’t take that promise lightly, which is why this is one beast of a 38 Special +P cartridge. Your attacker won’t be a fan of it, but you’ll be glad to have it on your side!

This round’s chamber pressure exceeds SAAMI’s specifications for 38 Special, hence the +P. That’s why a revolver’s going to fling its 125 grain bullet out at a velocity of nearly 950 fps, which translates to a flatter trajectory and more energy delivery on impact. A 357/38 rifle’s going to make this round even more potent thanks to its longer barrel (the bullet profile is safe for a tubular magazine). Please check and make sure a 38 Special revolver is designed to also fire +P ammo before you fire Remington HTP.

The semi-jacketed hollow point projectile doesn’t constrict its nose cavity with gilding metal. That promotes wider terminal expansion, and indeed this bullet consistently doubles its original diameter before coming to a halt within soft tissue. What jacket the SJHP does have promotes cleaner performance by preventing lead-on-steel contact inside the barrel.
