The needs of American gun owners are changing as well. We no longer need a hunting rifle and a shotgun to put meat into the freezer during hunting season. Now we buy guns to enjoy a session of target practice or to compete in a match or to defend what we hold dear from the threat of lethal force.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nAmerican gun companies are beginning to realize the need for guns that are tailored for older gun owners and others who may have difficulties working the action of a traditional full size pistol. Guns like the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 380EZ, Sccy CPX-3 and Ruger LC380 have the same size and shape as their 9mm counterparts. However, because they shoot the lower-powered and lower-recoiling .380ACP round, they are much easier to control under recoil than the same gun in 9mm. These are the guns that we'll be testing in Project 380.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nProject: 380 is all about looking at this new breed of compact .380 pistols and seeing how they compare against each other. The market for these guns is relatively new, and there hasn\u2019t been a side-by-side comparison until now.
