BioAmmo has developed and patented a very special type of shotshell. Both its wad and its hull are made out of vegetable based biopolymer, which is strong like plastic but not nearly as long-lasting. Once this shell’s hull and wad come to a rest on the ground or a lakebed, algae and other microorganisms will begin to eat them! It may take up to two years for biopolymer to disappear completely as it breaks down into carbon dioxide and mineral salts, but once it’s gone it’s gone for good.

BioAmmo loads this particular shell with #9 shot – the smallest pellet commonly used for hunting, and as such ideal for the most delicate upland game (as well as rats and other unpopular critters). The uniform shot pellets gain an especially efficient spread as this shell’s wide-vented wad opens up to pattern them densely. The wad additionally features a hinged base, which compresses during ignition to reduce felt recoil.

Please note that this Spanish ammo’s box displays metric measurements. 70 millimeters is the same length as 2-3/4”, and 32 grams is equivalent to 1-1/8 ounces. BioAmmo’s compostable ammo stores for a minimum of five years under normal conditions, tough their hulls are not recommended for reloading.
