This shell is loaded with #8 lead shot – a little smaller than #7.5, so at 7/8 ounces you get roughly 50 more pellets per trigger pull. That thick cluster of shot is made even denser thanks to Rio’s addition of antimony to the lead it is made of, which hardens it against deformation that loosens up a pattern. Rio also matched this shell’s wad to its #8 shot, promoting even greater accuracy still.

Rio has some serious experience when it comes to primers and propellant. The subsidiary of the MAXAM group paired this shell’s explosive components together to guarantee a steady 1,340 fps muzzle velocity – nice and fast for a flat, accurate trajectory. You can see it all through this shell’s translucent hull, a fine piece of hardware to have on hand for future reloading endeavors.
