About This Winchester 12 Gauge Ammunition
Recoil is a great feeling. It means you are firing a gun. But heavy recoil – or even sustained exposure to normal recoil – isn’t a great feeling at all! It makes high-volume target shooting less comfortable, and can turn a younger shooter off of the 12 Gauge altogether. This Super-X series ammunition by Winchester fixes all of that. This round’s 1 ounce slug is loaded to a comparably slow (but still well above supersonic) muzzle velocity of 1,300 fps. That slaps 50 yards with over 1,000 ft lbs of energy, so it’s A-OK for close range hunting. It also stands for 3-1/4 dram equivalent, and pressure that is reliably high enough to cycle a semi-automatic (though to be sure, we can’t promise smooth functionality out of any shotgun that we haven’t personally inspected and tested out).
This round’s lower muzzle velocity isn’t the only driving force behind its kinder kick. Instead of pure felt, its hollow point (HP) rifled slug is backed by a tiered plastic wad that collapses in on itself under pressure. Smooths out the sensation of ignition that much better!
Winchester packages this ammo in 15-round boxes; 10 boxes per case.
