This shell packs a punch in the form of 1 ounce of #7.5 shot. That’s a large load for the 20 Gauge, but the shell’s modest 1,165 fps muzzle velocity means that its recoil isn’t uncomfortably more powerful.

Winchester calls this shell’s lead shot “proven.” That’s as good a way as any of saying that it is rigid enough to prevent compression during recoil. The hinged AA wad also helps the repeatedly sifted pellets to form a more consistent pattern by absorbing some shock energy before it can reach the shot column.
