This 223 Rem ammunition by Ammo Inc. hasn’t got green-painted bullet tips to indicate that it is M855 spec. That’s because it’s SS109 spec – yet apart from its unpainted bullets, it’s virtually the same thing as M855!

This round’s 62 grain bullet looks just like any other FMJ on the outside. Its core is made of two parts: a solid lead rear, and a solid steel front. Thanks to its hard nose, the SS109 bullet is able to reliably penetrate 1/8” thick sheets of steel and other durable surfaces.

Please note that the SS109 bullet is certain to attract a magnet, and is accordingly unwelcome at many commercial ranges. The bullet’s penetrator tip may also damage steel targets, as well as pose a higher chance of a ricochet after striking a steel target or rocky backstop.
