About This Prvi Partizan 303 British Ammunition
Affordable, new-production .303 British ammo can be a bit tough to find these days. Prvi Partizan of Serbia's version of the cartridge is an excellent round that provides an even better value than old surplus ammo thanks to its new, non-corrosive Boxer primers and 150 grain soft point bullet suitable for both hunting and range shooting. These rounds use reloadable brass cases and come packed in a 500 round case (with 25 boxes of 20 rounds each) for volume savings.Originally a black powder cartridge, the .303 British round entered service in 1888 with the new Lee-Metford rifle, which replaced the venerable Martini-Henry. It saw its most extensive use in the Lee Enfield series that armed most British Empire forces in both world wars, and was copied by the Japanese for their naval aircraft guns, which were themselves copies of British designs. The .303 continued in British service until the 1950s when it was replaced (along with the .30-06) by the 7.62x51mm NATO in the interest of standardization. Like the .30-06, it still sees use as a hunting cartridge due to its excellent long-range ballistic properties.
