About This Igman Ammunition 308 / 7.62x51 Ammunition
Igman d.d. Konjic was signed into existence in 1950 by Josip Broz Tito – the former president of the former nation of Yugoslavia. Igman outlived their country of origin and now exports ammo to five continents. This is their match grade 308 Win 175 grain hollow point boat tail ammo – not the fanciest long-range ammo you could find, but reliably accurate nevertheless. This cartridge has a hefty bullet that helps it beat wind deflection. But the hollow point boat tail is more than just heavy. It is equipped with a sleek, concentric and nonmagnetic brass-alloy jacket, a rotationally stable form-fitted lead core, and a drag-reducing tapered base. The HPBT’s nose cavity won’t widen out as it penetrates flesh, which is why its terminal ballistics are substandard for hunting applications.
No military surplus here. Just factory fresh brass cases, noncorrosive Boxer primers, and red sealant to keep those primers more watertight. Igman did not polish this ammo’s cases after annealing them for added toughness. The gray coloration is purely cosmetic.
