This cartridge is crowned with a 158 grain total metal jacket projectile, which generates pretty palatable recoil courtesy of its modest 780 fps muzzle velocity. The TMJ is identical to the ubiquitous FMJ save for one important difference: instead of leaving its lead core exposed to burning propellant, the TMJ’s jacket completely shields its base. Hot ignition won’t burn off and evaporate any part of the TMJ’s core, which translates to a healthier shooting environment and significantly reduced barrel fouling as well.
