No matter the model of your .45 ACP handgun, these Speer Gold Dot jacketed hollow point rounds offer the most impressive features for your law enforcement and personal defense needs.Speer/CCI, a reputable manufacturer of ammunition since the 1950s, uses only the highest quality components in their products and the Gold Dot line represents the penultimate of self-defense ammo technology today. Each round features a brass casing that is coated with a smooth nickel finish for less friction and seamless cycling. Speer uses their own in-house CCI boxer primers for stricter quality control which results in very reliable firing. Gold Dot bullets are constructed using Speer's patented Uni-Cor process which molecularly bonds the jacket to the lead. This special process all but eliminates jacket separation upon impact which ensures deep penetration and optimum expansion. Speer also uses flash suppressant in their powder mix so that the shooter is less susceptible to temporary blindness when shooting in low-light conditions.
These rounds have a +P pressure rating so please ensure your pistol carries the same rating before firing. The increased pressure combined with a medium-weight, 200 grain bullet produces 1,080 feet per second (FPS) of muzzle velocity. Compared to the 890 FPS of a standard 230 grain .45 hollow-point which will drop 2 inches at 50 yards, these lighter and faster 200 grain Gold Dot hollow-points can travel out to 50 yards while only dropping 1.1 inches and still delivering 439 foot-pounds of energy.

Potent load

Posted onI was gifted 100 rounds of this ammo and found it incredibly hot and though I dont have the means nor desire to gel test my ammo I do have feeling in my shooting hand and can feel how hot this load is. In addition to the speed of the projectile there is the well known expansion of the famed GDHP. This is the first .45acp load I have run outside the "normal" 185 or 230gr and I am VERY impressed

Posted onSpeer GDHP has a great reputation and is carried by a LOT of police officers but this round in particular really shines. I saw a ballistic gel test set to FBI standards and this round opened up like a metal flower in almost perfect form to almost an inch in diameter. The rounds speed is fast enough to ensure expansion and expansion is what GDHP is all about. The non +P loads get nowhere near the expansion these rounds obtain and are slightly underweight for my taste. Amazing results and one great self defense round.
