About This Israeli Military Industries 5.56x45mm Ammunition

“The penetrator.” It’s the 5.56x45 M855 round’s nickname because its 62 grain bullet is designed to penetrate sheet metal, which it does reliably up until 1,000 feet (although it can pierce 11 gauge steel at twice that range). Whether you’d like to witness this feat during some high quality plinking or count on the penetrator for home defense, we believe you’ll be happy with IMI’s military-grade AR-15 ammo.

This bullet’s partial steel core is not exposed at the tip. It’s enveloped in gilding metal, letting the M855 bullet perform exactly like a typical FMJ during feeding and ignition. This round’s bullet is further equipped with a boat tail, which heightens its ballistic coefficient for a flatter trajectory and greater resistance to wind drift.

This non-corrosive ammo has brand new brass cases. They look a little different than what you usually see in factory production ammo, but that’s just because IMI skips buffing out the grayness that results from heat-treatment. (It’s not as though the Israeli military, whom they supply ammo to, is all that interested in cosmetics anyway.)
