Do you like firing M855 ammunition for target practice, or keeping a healthy supply of the 5.56x45 ammunition in store for an emergency? Then Oman Munition Production Company offers just what you need – SS109 is just a different name for the ammo we call M855 here in the US!

This ammo’s 62 grain FMJs may or may not have green painted tips, but in either event they are true penetrator bullets. The tips of their jackets conceal solid steel frontal cores, which reinforce the bullets so they can pass more reliably through sheet metal and other resilient barriers. Lots of folks love firing M855/SS109 ammo at the range (assuming said range allows magnetic ammo).

The 62 grain bullet retains a little more momentum at long range as compared to the 55 grain alternative, even if its muzzle velocity is relatively slower. An AR-15 with a barrel twist of 1:8 or 1:9 will give SS109 ammo its best accuracy, although a 1:7 twist will also prove adequate for target practice and personal protection.

This NATO-spec ammo is loaded with new brass cases. You may note discoloration around the cases’ shoulders, but that only proves they were properly annealed at the factory. This non-corrosive Boxer-primed ammo is packaged in a durable steel ammo can, complete with a hinged handle and rubber gasket seal for safe long-term storage.
