This is M855 ammunition, a fine choice for target shooting but also suitable for self-defense applications. The round’s 62 grain bullet contains a partial steel core beneath the tip of its jacket. This helps the bullet to punch through sheet metal and other tough barriers, making it highly effective for engaging threats shielded by light armor or vehicles. Just be certain that the M855 bullet is magnetic, and as a heavier projectile it delivers the best accuracy out of an AR-15 with a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel.
