About This FN Herstal 5.7 x 28 Ammunition

Finding 5.7x28mm ammo is enough of a feat on its own, but finding a whole case of such potent ammo designed specifically for self-defense? That’s like spotting a unicorn.

This cartridge features a 40 grain V-MAX by Hornady. While typically considered a varmint hunting bullet, a V-MAX is certainly capable of grounding a human-sized threat fast -- especially when it leaves the muzzle of a Five-seveN at over 2,000 fps.

The V-MAX is accurate and deadly. Its streamlined profile and sharp polymer tip combine to grant the bullet its high ballistic coefficient, and its optimized bearing surface and swaged lead core keep it stable in flight. The tip extends deep down into the core’s center cavity, and upon impact accumulates tremendous energy before connecting with the bottom. The outcome: Disastrous fragmentation, even at lower velocities.

FN Herstal gave this round of their own invention a proper brass shell casing, precision tapered to guarantee smooth feeding and chambering and supple enough to endure several successive handloads. Clean burning propellant and a responsive primer tie the whole package together perfectly!
