This round’s 140 grain projectile is a hollow point boat tail. Its nose cavity does not in fact supply any amount of terminal expansion; it’s only there because the bullet’s jacket was formed first and subsequently filled with lead. The uniformly distributed and form-fitted lead core complements the HPBT’s concentric jacket to provide excellent rotational stability.

The HPBT also encounters very little in-flight drag because its aerodynamic jacket profile and gracefully angled boat tail both do their jobs so darn well. Once the HPBT has cleared muzzle at a velocity of 2,710 fps, its 0.590 G1 ballistic coefficient binds it to an impressively flat trajectory. Zero in at 200 yards and the bullet ought to only drop by -7.9” at 300 yards (assuming 1.5” sight height).
