Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel ammunition is designed for compacts and subs. It’ll certainly function in a full-size handgun, but concealers of smaller pistols can take heart knowing that Speer fine-tuned this round’s Gold Dot bullet for maximum performance out of barrels as short as 1.9”!

This round’s premium nickel-plated brass case seats a 124 grain jacketed hollow point. The latter does more than expand at the ideal rate for neutralizing a human assailant, even if it lands with less velocity. Thanks to Speer’s Uni-Cor process, the JHP’s electrochemically bonded jacket is every bit as concentric as it is resistant to separation from the core. The Gold Dot keeps penetrating after weaker bullets give up!

This is +P ammunition. It’s loaded to a higher maximum average pressure than standard (38,500 psi, as opposed to 35,000 psi). The key benefit is stronger impact with the threat. The main con is stiffer recoil, but it’s quite manageable all the same. Do not fire this ammo in guns that aren’t rated for safe +P operation.
