About This Speer 9mm Luger AmmunitionSpeer’s Gold Dot projectile is already a marvelous thing. It’s made via the Uni-Cor process, which exploits chemicals and electricity to layer a copper jacket around an alloyed core as concentrically as can be, promoting tack driving accuracy. As the result of that process the Gold Dot’s jacket is also bonded to its core, preventing the degree of component separation that could have greatly impacted penetration.
The Gold Dot G2 differs from its predecessor in terms of its nose cavity -- the G2’s is shallow, and filled with a clear elastomer which keeps outside the debris that could have dampened potential for expansion. That soft material is driven down into the pressure formed core’s internal crevices during penetration, forcing them apart to produce five evenly spaced cutting petals. That’s the kind of reliable and lethal terminal performance that your self-defense weapon deserves.
Speer complemented this 9mm round’s high tech 147 grain bullet with a nickel plated brass casing. Nickel not only works to ensure more reliable functionality in a semi-automatic, but averts rapid corrosion and makes it easier to spot the round in the chamber when the sun isn’t on your side. This round’s Boxer primer is super sensitive, and its propellant ignites cleanly to keep a pistol in better working order until it can be treated to Hoppe’s.
