It’s not the size of the 12 Gauge rifled slug. It’s how you use it! Federal’s Shorty Shotshell only measures 1-3/4” long, which makes it easier to pocket and allows you to store more in your trusty pump-action’s magazine. You may need an adapter to ensure reliable cycling, but once you’ve taken care of that you’re golden!

This shell’s short stature doesn’t make it anemic. It’s surprisingly powerful, as a matter of fact, as it propels its single-ounce projectile to a respectable muzzle velocity of 1,200 fps! Fire it at a close-range target and you’ll strike the thing with over 1,300 ft lbs of kinetic energy – over 1,000 ft lbs more than the minimum energy commonly advised for defensive shooting. And if you aim farther out to 75 or 100 yards, you’ll still deliver the energy that can humanely kill a deer (with proper aim, of course).

This shell is loaded with a rifled slug. It’s exclusively meant for smoothbore shotguns, and may in fact damage a rifled bore shotgun’s barrel. The solid lead projectile also features the hollow point requisite for terminal expansion.
