12 GAUGE FEDERAL VITAL-SHOK 2-3/4" 1 OZ. TRUBALL RIFLED HP SLUG (250 ROUNDS)
Federal’s TruBall is one of the most accurate, if not the most accurate, smoothbore slugs on the market. These 12 Gauge shells are able to group as tightly as 1.4 inches at 50 yards, which will leave you to second guess whether it’s actually a rifle that you’re firing! When the TruBall exits the muzzle, two other components follow closely after it. The wad itself efficiently seals the barrel to ensure a brisk 1,600 fps muzzle velocity, while a special high density plastic ball sits within the slug’s hollow base to propel it even more evenly out of the barrel. The wad and ball detach cleanly from the projectile after serving their purpose.
At one full ounce, the TruBall is capable of inflicting crippling energy on impact – more than 900 ft lbs at the 100 yard mark. And as a hollow point slug, the TruBall mushrooms outward dramatically during penetration to rapidly transfer so much lethal energy on target. Your buck won’t even notice that he’s been bested.
Federal is a shotshell extraordinaire. Did you know the Minnesota company actually came up with the idea of the color-coded shotshell? That kind of innovation seeps through into everything Federal does, so you can count on this shell’s TruBall to be perfectly served by its clean burning propellant, sensitive primer, and smooth-cycling hull and brass head.

Less accurate than a standard unrifled slug
How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend? I patterned this round at 25 yd with two shotguns with the same result from both. Using chokes from improved cylinder to modified, there was nothing between the two that would resemble a group. Rounds all went left at least 8 inches (and up and down all over the place). If you live in an area that limits you to a shotgun for deer hunting, this round will not improve your accuracy. You may have better performance getting a gun with a rifled barrel. Otherwise, I believe you will be better off with buckshot than depending on the accuracy of this round beyond 15 yd.
