This range load’s ballistic performance is spectacularly normal. The 40 grain lead round nose is backed by the responsive primer and low-fouling propellant it needs to burst out of a rifle’s barrel at a velocity of 1,255 fps. At 0.116, its G1 BC is sufficient to prevent transonic destabilization until approximately 40 yards. The bullet may lack any capacity for terminal expansion, but we reckon a well-placed shot would be enough to send any small game critter into early retirement.
