This round’s 180 grain bullet isn’t technically a soft point. It’s a soft point cutting edge. Instead of seamlessly gliding all the way to the tail, the curvature of the bullet’s tip ends at the rim of its mid-shank shoulder. At that point the bullet’s side profile becomes perfectly straight.

The SPCE’s angular shoulder inflicts a cleaner and more injurious entry wound that leads to more bleeding. The bullet’s copper-zinc alloy jacket is also mechanically embedded in its lead core, which promotes deeper penetration by warding off core/jacket separation following impact. The SPCE does deliver expansion like a conventional soft point, and its 1,800+ ft lbs striking energy at 200 yards spells a pretty grim picture for any large game that gets caught in your crosshairs.
