These Nebraska-made hunting loads are armed with BIG, BEEFY 250 grain bullets – precisely the reason why their muzzle velocity is subsonic! (Noting that Hornady recorded the 1,050 fps muzzle velocity with the 300 BO’s standard 16” test barrel.)

This round is extraordinarily quiet. It also doesn’t brighten up its surroundings very much on ignition owing to its low-flash propellant. But the real star of the show? It’s gotta be that Sub-X bullet, which reliably exhibits terminal expansion at impact velocities as low as 900 fps (meaning this 0.265 G1 BC round is effective out to just beyond 200 yards). The Sub-X manages such a feat thanks not just to its grooved jacket, but also its Flex Tip: a supple polymer cylinder which compresses on impact to push expansion out faster and wider. Deer. Hogs.
