This is overpressure ammunition. It is safe for all 357 Magnum firearms, but it may damage or destroy 38 Special firearms that aren’t rated for +P.

If you’re looking for self-defense ammunition, then you’re likely to find plenty of law enforcement grade ammo. It’s designed to effectively neutralize a threat that’s shielded by safety glass, sheet metal, and other durable barriers. Federal’s Punch line of ammo is priced more affordably because it isn’t designed for law enforcement use.

This 38 Special +P round’s bullet still offers plenty of stopping, however. The jacketed hollow point features a soft lead core and skived jacket that enable it to penetrate clothing and reliably expand inside of soft tissue. And because the round’s 120 grain bullet will clear a 4” barrel at a rate of 1,000 fps, it’s going to reach five yards with sufficient kinetic energy to immediately halt a threat’s advance.

Federal's Minnesota-made brass cases are strong and reloadable, so you'll take away valuable handloading components if you use this ammo for target practice. Sealed primers are always a welcome bonus when you carry concealed – they help keep your sweat away from the powder.
