You’re not in the habit of carrying a 40 S&W pistol – or at least owning one – solely because you’re interested in target practice. A whole case of Remington High Terminal Performance (HTP) will ensure you have a rich supply of the ammunition you need to conclude a potentially deadly altercation in your favor.

This cartridge is loaded with a 180 grain bullet, which you can reasonably expect to reach a 25-yard target with over 380 ft lbs of kinetic energy. That’s more than sufficient energy for serious circumstances, and plenty lethal to varmints as well. The HTP jacketed hollow point exhibits good weight retention following impact, so it tunnels deeply into soft tissue. And thanks to the .40 cal HTP JHP’s notched gilding metal jacket, it can easily expand to a width of 0.80” before coming to a full halt inside its target.

This is nonmagnetic ammo, with reloadable brass cases (although any 40 S&W brass is susceptible to the “Glock bulge” which plagues handloaders). Remington’s Kleanbore primers are a welcome addition to any ammunition, as they spark up reliably in spite of poorly-placed firing pin strikes and extreme temperatures.
