Whether you seek smoother feeding, cleaner ignition, or the option to handload down the road, this brass-cased 5.56x45 ammo ought to make you a happy camper.This is M855 ammunition. Its bullet functions exactly like an FMJ until it hits its target, at which point the solid steel in its core helps it penetrate barriers including wallboard, plywood and steel. Great for training wherever magnetic bullets are permitted, but appropriate for self-defense as well!
The penetrator bullet tips the scales at 62 grains – seven grains heavier than the classic M193 bullet. As such it retains greater velocity downrange and strikes its target with relatively greater force, but it is best stabilized by a barrel with 1:9 or 1:8 twist. (You can get away with 1:7, but you just won’t enjoy as much long-distance accuracy.)
