About This Armscor 308 / 7.62x51 Ammunition
Armscor is most famous in America for their 1911 pistols, but the ISO certified Philippine company also has everything they need to deliver the goods when it comes to ammo. Armscor’s 7.62x51 M80 ball ammo is great for target practice, even if you have an old bolt-action 308 deer rifle that needs zeroing in, and we can think of far worse ways to prep for emergencies. The M80 cartridge is the standard ammo for regular combat. Its 147 grain FMJ projectile relies purely on force and penetration to subdue a target. It cannot expand, so it’s not a great choice for taking deer and sheep species. Armscor’s FMJ is otherwise unremarkable, save that it does contain steel. That makes this ammo magnetic and accordingly prohibited at some rifle ranges.
Armscor’s Boxer primers and brass cases make their 7.62x51 ammo a worthwhile pick for handloading hobbyists. Some folks see those cases’ gray necks and shoulders and suspect they were already fired and handloaded. Not the case – Armscor just skipped polishing these cases after they were drawn, tapered and heat-treated at their factory.
