About This Red Army Standard 7.62 x 54R Ammunition

We hate communism. But we love Red Army Standard ammunition, which is shipped into this great country by Century Arms of Florida! Don’t let the branding fool you. This 7.62x54R ammo is not USSR military surplus. It was recently manufactured in the nation of Romania, which is most assuredly not communist and is in fact populated by very lovely people.

This ammo is designed to let you fire your Mosin-Nagant all day long without having to go into crippling debt. Its 148 grain full metal jacket projectiles have lead cores, and their jackets barely contain any copper. The bimetal jacket is made of soft steel with a thin copper coating for enhanced cosmetics.

You will not find any copper in this ammo’s cases, either. They are made of steel also (which makes them too rigid to be used as handloading components). Don’t be scared away by this ammo’s Berdan primers. They are just as noncorrosive as any Boxer primer you’d get in an American-made round, so you will not have to submerge your rifle in boiling Ballistol after firing it.
