About This Federal 5.56x45mm Ammunition
This sealed can of 600 cartridges in 5.56 NATO is the perfect choice for long term storage. Each can is sealed with inert nitrogen and provides superb resistance to the elements.These cartridges come from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. Manufactured under contract by Alliant Techsystems/ATK and sold under the Federal brand, this ammo follows the M855 ball specification currently in front-line use with the US military.
Each round in this can fires a heavy 62 grain full metal jacket bullet with a boat tail for added stability at extended ranges. This ammunition produces about 3,020 feet per second of muzzle velocity.
These cartridges are easily identifiable as M855 ball due to their distinctive green steel tip. Like all Lake City ammo, they use non-corrosive Boxer primers and brass cases with visible annealing marks.

Posted onSeems all you can find in spam cans/tins is the 55gr stuff. Of course, as do I, put it in an ammo can with a dessipack and oxygen absorber and it is plenty good to store as long as it isn't submerged in water for week. You can even submerge it in water as long as the seals are good on the ammo can. THIS product is just made to be stored though. Sealed in a magazine sized can (39 rounds) it can be put bak for that "rainy" day and 62gr ammo is what my rifle likes best. I sure hope this can be kept in stock too.
