300 AAC BLACKOUT HORNADY FRONTIER 208 GRAIN FMJ (200 ROUNDS)
The aliens aren’t contacting us. Bigfoot cannot be found. And unicorns? Probably not even real. But that’s OK. There is still magic in the world. It’s to be found inside each and every cartridge that rolls out of Hornady’s factory in Grand Island, Nebraska. The name of the magic at work in this particular 300 AAC Blackout cartridge? Subsonic magic. That’s because it’s been blessed with both a weaker propellant charge and a heavier bullet than average, which ensures its muzzle velocity stays safely beneath the sonic threshold (i.e. ~1,125 fps). Hornady captured this round’s 1,025 fps muzzle velocity with the aid of a 24” test barrel, so its bullet’s certain to come out even slower if you’re firing an SBR.
Better have a suppressor if you want this subsonic ammunition to cycle an AR-15. Though we’re aware that certain modifications can enable an AR to cycle subsonic ammo without a suppressor, it’d be a shame not to hear this ammo’s quietest possible report.
Frontier is Hornady’s line of regular range ammunition. Its full metal jacket projectiles have standard target-grade jackets and cores, and its virgin brass cases will reload real nicely if you’ve got the chops.
Here is how much this ten-box case of ammo’s shipping will cost you: nada.
