The 147 grain full metal jacket is by no means the highest-performance target bullet you could select. A 175 grain MatchKing’s accuracy would blow it out of the water! But the FMJ has got one blessing a MatchKing or other match-grade bullet just can’t compete with: its lower cost, which is very soundly reflected by this ammo’s price tag.

Does this ammo attract a magnet? No sir! Between their solid brass cases (which are new and reloadable) and steel-free projectiles (core: lead; jacket: copper/zinc alloy), these cartridges lack any reason to move for a magnet.

Sellier & Bellot reports 2,789 fps muzzle velocity out of 23.5” test barrel. They also report two ballistic coefficients: 0.407 G1 and 0.204 G7, noting that the latter is a more accurate measure of aerodynamic efficiency owing to the FMJ’s sloping boat tail. We estimate supersonic velocity to end at approximately 920 yards (assuming 23.5” barrel).
