Steel cases make 7.62x39 ammunition more affordable! But steel-cased ammo usually has magnetic bimetal jacketed bullets, which are prohibited at many ranges because they pose a higher chance of creating sparks or damaging range equipment. This round’s 122 grain FMJ projectile has exactly two components: a solid lead core, and a solid brass jacket. Nothing about the bullet could attract a magnet, so you’re free and clear to fire this ammo at any range you please.

Steel cases are not reloadable without special equipment and a whole lot of patience, so we don’t advise trying unless you know what you’re signing up for. Steel cases also lead to more fouling of a rifle’s action, but that’s nothing a little Hoppe’s can’t fix. Tula does coat their cases with polymer to reduce friction during cycling, and their Berdan primers are completely noncorrosive.
