7.62x39 WOLF PERFORMANCE 123 GRAIN FMJ (1000 ROUNDS)
Your SKS or AK-pattern rifle will appreciate thise case of 1,000 Wolf Polyformance rounds (50 boxes of 20 rounds each), which use non-corrosive Berdan primers and polymer coated steel cases. The polymer coatings ensure reliable feeding and ejection, while the steel cases, though non-reloadable, keep the cost of shooting down so you can stay on the range for longer. A standard 123 grain bimetal jacketed bullet provides typical 7.62x39 ballistics.Since the 1920s, Soviet and later Russian ammo manufacturers have made steel-cased ammo to take advantage of their homeland's abundant iron ore deposits. AK and SKS pattern rifles, developed in the 1950s, were engineered to use this ammunition reliably. With the advent of polymer coatings replacing the old lacquering, steel-cased ammo is gaining increasing popularity around the world thanks to its significant up front price advantage.

Barnaul polyformance
How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onFor those who are wondering. This is the 123 grain Barnaul produced polyformance line from wolf as marked by the Barnaul logo on the rear of the box. Not to be confused with the lesser quality 122 grain Tula, wolf sells as “performance.” Mine arrived in two days ammoman has been great for years keep it up.

How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onWolf is fine ammo my AR15 .223/5.56 & 6.5 Grendel run it without a hiccup. I have 3 AR 47’s 7.62x39 I’ve tried all the magazines out there and have done the modifications to the front of them. But the Wolf ammo just miss feeds. Tulammo doesn’t miss a beat. Really can’t see that much difference. Just my 2 cents.

Posted onI've always been happy with wolf ammo. It's always been reliable and reasonably accurate. The packaging from ammoman has always been good for past orders. However, this time it looked like the box came apart during shipping. Everything was there, so I was good with it.

Works every time, but...
How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onIf you are happy just banging away at whatever, this stuff is perfect. If you are trying to obtain 1 minute of angle (1 inch group at 100 yards) I think that will be exceedingly difficult. I took a cartridge apart and miked diameter of the bullet - it went from .309 to .3095. I miked the diameter of a Remington 150gr .308 bullet and it went from .308 to .308. - no runout.
However, knowing that a small group with this ammunition will be a total accident doesn't take away from the fun I am having with it. I bought a case of this stuff and when it went on sale, I bought another case. Hey, you can "police" your 'brass' with a magnet too! Have fun! -

How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onGood cost effective ammo we use in military style rifles after running this ammo through our guns we wash them out with warm soapy water and oil them down ,probably don't have to be so aggressive with the cleaning but got in the habit years ago.I don't shoot military rifles as much as I used to but the ammo had such a great price I picked up a 1000 rounds to put away for a rainy day.

Perfectly adequate AK ammo
How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?

Seems to hold 2 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards, maybe a bit larger but perfectly OK for blasting ammo or if the SHTF - TEOTWAWK.

How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?

How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onAmmo arrived in perfect condition and two days sooner than quoted on the shipping tracker. Definitely worth the extra $1.50 for the over box to keep it "safe" from prying eyes on the front porch for a couple of hours before I got home. Great ammo that always works at a great price.

Superb ammo. The equal or the better of FMJ American made ammo just without the brass & reloadable case
How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onI have fired various brands of MUCH more expensive American made ammo and got no better groupings than I did with this Wolf polymer coated Performance ammo. If you do not reload there is simply no reason to pay the extra for brass cased ammo. When Wolf went away from sealing their primers with lacquer and went to coating their ammo with polymer they also vastly improved their powder mix which made for a much cleaner burning round, as clean as ANY American brand. This "Performance" ammo is also just as consistent and accurate as any American made ammo and at the cost it makes one want to rethink re-loading anyway and chasing spent cases, especially those thrown the distance most AK's throw their cases, is hardly appealing to me even if the cost of reloading is less than just buying this Russian made steel cased ammo. In short, this ammo is as good as it comes for either your SKS or your AK47 and I would highly recommend it to any and everyone. It is ALL I use on a regular basis though when hunting I do break out my Wolf SP steel cased ammo as it does expand fantastically. Remember also, this ammo tends to tumble wildly once it strikes soft tissue so even though it is a FMJ bullet the wound channel it creates is substantial and catastrophic. GREAT AMMO at a GREAT PRICE!

How quickly did your order arrive? How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend?
Posted onWolf feeds well and always goes bang. I reload several calibers but For Zombies and plinking it's more cost effective and time saving to go with Ammoman. They've got the best prices I've found and believe me I've spent many many hours looking. I've placed several orders through the years and haven't been disappointed yet. Their service is excellent, my last order was placed Tuesday night and was delivered Friday.

GREAT STUFF for Zombie Hunting (or just having a good time at the range)
Posted onThis review is submitted after my 3rd order from AMMOMAN. After firing approx 1500 rnds, I have not experienced any hiccups or FTF. May not be the most accurate, however as most know many factors play a major part in accuracy. My groupings are tight with a decent quality Red Dot. The price per round is comparatively cheap compared to Gun Show vendors. FREE FAST shipping is a plus, orders consistently received within a 4 day period (including weekends). Given the fact that I reload my personal Ammo, it would be a HUGE plus if casings were reloadable (life is not perfect all the times).

Works every time it's tried.
Posted onGot delivery (and fast too!). Took ammo and N-PAP to range. Loaded mags. Inserted mags into mag well. Pressed trigger (many times). BANG (X1000). Bullets came out and hit target/paper. This ammo works. I'm happy. The end.
AmmoMan.com stocks ammo from more than a dozen brands, from Winchester ammunition and other major U.S. manufacturers to imported steel-cased options. Match an ammo brand to caliber, budget, and use case below, then shop the in-stock selection. Every listing shows the regular price and the unit price (cost per round), so it's easy to compare brands before checkout. Orders over $99 ship free, and returning customers earn rewards on every order, whether buying a single box or stocking up in bulk.
How to Choose an Ammo Brand
Match the Brand to Your Caliber
Not every brand makes every caliber. Winchester and Federal cover the widest range: pistol, rifle, rimfire, and shotgun. Wolf and Tula run steel-cased rifle ammo in 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 at a lower cost per round. Speer and Hornady are the go-to names for defensive handgun loads. Start on the caliber page for the specific firearm, then compare which brands are in stock and at what price per round.
AmmoMan.com breaks stock down by caliber as well as by brand. Shoppers who already know what they're loading can go straight to that caliber's page and compare brands there: 9mm ammo, 10mm ammo, 40 S&W ammo, 45 ACP ammo, 223/5.56 ammo, 308 ammo, 7.62x39 ammo, and 300 Blackout ammo each list current stock and price per round across every brand carried in that caliber. Coming back the other way works too. A shooter who likes a brand's 9mm load can check this page to see whether that same brand also makes ammo for their rifle.
Match the Brand to Your Use Case
Range and training ammo is a cost-per-round game. Wolf, Magtech, and PMC are the common picks for high-volume shooting and sport shooting leagues that go through a case at a time. Personal defense and duty ammo is judged on terminal performance instead: Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, and Hornady Critical Defense are the names that show up most in that category. Hunting ammo depends on the game and the caliber, with Federal, Winchester, and Hornady all running dedicated hunting lines. Precision and competition shooting runs on a different standard: round-to-round consistency matters more than price per round. Black Hills built its reputation on match-grade accuracy, and Winchester's newer Supreme Long Range line targets that same long-distance crowd. Once a brand fits the caliber and budget, check current stock before checkout, since availability shifts often.
Top Ammo Brands at AmmoMan.com
Federal Ammo
Federal makes pistol, rifle, rimfire, and shotgun ammo out of Anoka, Minnesota. The Premium line, including HST self-defense ammo and Gold Medal Match rifle ammo, is a common pick for law enforcement contracts and competition shooters. Shop Federal ammo.

Shop Winchester ammo.
Hornady Ammo

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most reliable ammo brand?
Reliability depends on caliber and application. For personal defense, Federal, Speer, and Hornady all have strong track records in law enforcement testing. For range training, PMC, Magtech, and Winchester White Box run consistently across a wide range of firearms, from sport shooting leagues to weekend range trips.
Is foreign-made ammo as good as American-made ammo?
Foreign manufacturers like Sellier & Bellot, Fiocchi, Magtech, and Prvi Partizan build to the same SAAMI or CIP pressure standards as American brands, and they're widely used for range training. Some shooters still prefer American-made brass-cased ammo for hunting and personal defense. U.S. and other NATO forces even use ammo made by foreign brands like PMC in the Pacific.
What's the difference between steel-cased and brass-cased ammo brands?
Steel-cased ammo brands like Wolf and Tula cost less per round and hold up fine for high-volume range days, though steel cases don't reload as well as brass. Brass-cased ammo brands, including Federal, Winchester, PMC, and Hornady, cost more but run cleaner and stand up better to reloading. For personal defense or hunting, brass-cased ammo is the safer default. For a weekend at the range, steel-cased ammo saves money without giving up much.
Which brands are best for buying in bulk?
Case-quantity pricing matters most for range and training rounds fired by the hundreds, and Wolf, Tula, PMC, and Magtech all price down as quantity goes up. Orders over $99 ship free no matter which brands end up in the cart, so combining brands into one order beats checking out separately. Manufacturers also run mail-in rebate promotions from time to time, so it can pay to check for a current rebate on a given brand before buying.
Does brand matter more than bullet type?
Bullet type, like FMJ, JHP, or soft point, usually matters more than brand for picking the right ammo for the job. Once the bullet type is set, the brand choice is really about reliability and price per round.
Stock turns over as each brand runs through production, so the fastest way to find the right ammo brand for a specific gun is to filter by caliber and check what's currently in stock above.
