Each 2-3/4" shell in this box of 25 fires a 1-1/8 oz. column of #8 birdshot at a muzzle velocity of 1,165 feet per second. This is a relatively mild load that can be fired all afternoon without inducing unreasonable levels of fatigue for the shooter. #8 birdshot, while too small for most game, patterns finely and works wonders against clay targets; its limited penetration is not of great concern for this purpose.
