About This Federal 357 Magnum Ammunition

Federal's command over high-grade components and American manufacturing prowess makes these .357 Magnum rounds some of the most powerful and reliable around! The cartridge profile includes a non-corrosive Boxer primer and a reloadable brass casing which are both nickel-plated for slick loading, smooth ejection, and long shelf life. Each round is topped off with what Federal labels a jacketed hollowpoint (JHP) but really appears to be a semi-jacketed hollowpoint (SJHP) with a wide-mouth cavity bored into an exposed lead tip.

This type of construction is advantageous for personal defense as it promotes reliable expansion even at low velocities often associated with short-barreled, snub-nosed, carry revolvers. The projectile weighs in at 158 grains which is common to the caliber and has a successful track record throughout decades of law enforcement use. While penetrating into a threat, the bullet will expand in diameter, yaw in direction, and create a substantial wound cavity before coming to a halt in vital zones; this makes most appropriate use of a massive energy dump in order to stop an attacker with efficient lethality.
