The 357 Magnum is a powerful round, and a great option for those of you that like to use large frame revolvers for home defense. This round has more recoil and stopping power compared to the 38 special, even though it uses the same bullet. This higher performace is achieved by loading more powder behind these bullets, forcing them to high velocities.

Federal Hydra-Shok round dates back to the 1980s, as a high end self-defense round, with a unique center post design which is made to penetrate through intermediate barriers without clogging the hollow point. This is done to ensure that reliable expansion happens on every shot. These rounds are brass cased and boxer primed.

Remember, revolvers chambered for 357 Magnum can fire 38 special bullets without a problem. However, revolvers chambered for 38 Special CAN NOT fire 357 Magnum due to a slightly long case length.
