About This Hornady .40 Smith & Wesson AmmunitionIf you are looking for a heavy duty, personal defense ammunition, these 40 S&W Critical Duty loads, by Hornady, are just what you need. Introduced in 2012 and specially designed for law enforcement professionals, this ammo contains many features allowing it to excel in FBI protocol tests.
This Critical Duty ammunition is designed to break through barriers such as sheet metal, wall board, plywood, heavy clothing, and auto glass. The 175 grain FlexLock Jacketed Hollow Point bullet has two key features: the Flex Tip and InterLock band. The Flex Tip initiates expansion that is consistent and prevents clogging. The InterLock band locks the jacket and core together, allowing for more power to take down the attacker. The core of the bullet is made of high-antimony lead, making it extremely tough.
The cartridge has a reloadable, nickel-plated brass casing and Boxer-primer. Corrosion is not a concern with the 40 S&W Hornady Critical Duty loads.
Hornady Manufacturing Company was founded in 1964 when Joyce Hornady felt he could make better bullets than what were available on the market. And, so he did, creating a product that would aid in providing hunters and shooters the accuracy and precision he sought to achieve for himself. Today, Hornady Manufacturing Company continues to provide ammunition worldwide and is headquartered in Grand Island, Nebraska.
