About This Federal 5.56x45mm Ammunition
This loose pack of 500 rounds from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant follows the M855 standard for 5.56 NATO ammo currently used by the US military and many of our allies. As M855 rounds, these cartridges fire a heavy 62 grain full metal jacket bullet at just over 3,000 feet per second.As Lake City production, this ammo is produced on the same assembly lines as government contract rounds and comes with un-polished brass cases that show proof that the annealing process has been completed. Needless to say, this ammo also uses non-corrosive Boxer primers.
Lake City ammunition is produced by Alliant Techsystems, a major defense contractor and the parent company of Federal Premium Ammunition. Surplus ammo not purchased by the government is sold under the Federal brand and is highly sought after for its military provenance and rock-solid reliability.
