Federal American Eagle 223 Rem ammunition is pretty much the gold standard as far as high-volume AR-15 shooting sessions are concerned. Order this 26-pound case of ammo, slam it down at your range stall (gently), and prepare to spend all day long perfecting your aim.

This cartridge’s full metal jacket boat tail bullet is simple and good. At 55 grains its muzzle velocity is basically identical to the U.S. Army’s M193 round, and thanks to its tapering base it’s able to retain more velocity downrange, resist getting blown off-track by crosswinds, and hit its target with more energy. We recommend this ammo for target shooting, but the FMJBT bullet’s tendency to fragment following high-velocity impact means its terminal ballistics are not to be trifled with. And because it doesn’t contain one molecule of steel, this bullet’s ready to rock at all commercial ranges.

Federal anneals these rounds’ factory fresh brass cases. They’re only discolored because they weren’t polished up nice and sparkly afterward, but that doesn’t impact performance at all. Once you’ve put dents in these rounds’ non-corrosive Boxer primers, you’re all set to bring them back to life at the reloading bench.
