Steel is nowhere near as supple as brass, which means it doesn’t expand to seal off the chamber as effectively – nor does it contract to its original dimensions afterward. That’s why this ammo shoots a little dirtier. That’s also why it isn’t fit for handloading. But at least those cases are plated with zinc: a metal which shields steel against rust.
This ammo may have steel cases, but it’s not like the budget-bin stuff that pours out of Russia. Its 124 grain FMJ bullets are made of lead and brass – no steel, no other ferrous metals, and no ability to attract a magnet as a result. Magtech also loads these rounds with Boxer primers, which are no more corrosive than the primers you’d get from any of the big American companies.

Posted onRan this in several guns in a few extended range trips. The rounds functioned flawlessly with no ammo related failures. Ammo is slick to the touch and was not overly dirty. Ammo was consistent too with a standard deviation in the velocity being about ~18 fps from an off the cuff measurement. Overall, good ammo that functions as intended for a fair price.

Posted onNo feeding issues, no cycling issues, no extraction issues in Glock 47, 34, 17, and Walther PDP-F. Shipping was relatively fast, got it within 4 business days. I've had some issues with steel case ammo, but not this! Magtech steel case ammo is good to go!

Posted onIhave fired in excess of 10k rounds of Steel Magtech. Only issue I ever had, and it reoccurs so not a 1 off, is when firing several mags in my Sig 365xl, it will start to jame after the 3rd mag. No issues prior so I am thinking it has to do with heat within the gun and loading into the chamber since the spent casing is NOT ejected. (casing expansion perhps?)

Posted onI was impressed with the price point and fast delivery, but the ammo itself is not great. Very dirty! Did not want to cycle in my CMMG Banshee. My Mp5 did a little better with it, but still stove piped. My M&P and Sig did fine with it, but again they were very dirty when I went to clean them. Spend the extra money and get brass!
